About	r. Deb Stai, age 59, of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., passed away at her home in Sault Ste. Marie on Nov. 29, 2011. She was born in Rochester to Harry and Marion (Berg) Stai. Dr. Deb Stai had worked at Lake Superior State University since 1991. She was a favorite among students and recipient of the "Distinguished Teacher Award" in 2003. Surviving Dr. Stai are her brothers, Christopher W. Stai of Nebraska, Peter A. Stai of San Antonio, Texas; five nephews and two nieces; many members of extended family; her many dear friends; and her beloved dog, Mrs. Pickles. Comments from her students: One of the most phenomenal profs at this school. Not sure of any other prof who can clearly master two of the most difficult subjects (immunology & advanced clinical micro) at the university. Amazing at explaining difficult concepts and is a genius in the lab. Dr. Stai is a great professor. She enjoys teaching and likes to have fun. she makes the subject matter interesting and fun to learn. she likes to make jokes and has a great personality. i highly recommend taking her for any class you can.
